About Archipela

AI made writing software cheap. Owning it is still expensive.

More software companies are being started than ever, many of them building for a specific industry and led by people who know that industry better than engineering. Underneath, they all need the same foundation: agents, model routing, automations, access rules, notifications, audit logs. The edge is what goes on top.

Why now

Coding agents changed the economics. A differentiated feature now takes days. A foundation that is secure, scales and keeps up with AI still takes months of scarce senior engineering. Platform work used to be a modest share of the cost. Now it is one of the largest, and the main limit on how fast a team can move.

At the same time, that foundation is getting harder to own alone. Security is asymmetric: an attacker needs one gap, a defender has to close all of them, and AI makes attacks cheaper. Procurement in Europe increasingly rules out US suppliers, and NIS2, DORA and the AI Act ask for evidence most small teams can’t produce. And the AI frontier moves every week, with no time for applied research in a team that is shipping product.

Each of these is expensive for one team and cheap to share. So we build the foundation once, keep it secure and current, and let every customer build on it.

Why the name

An archipelago is many islands, each standing on its own, yet forming a single connected whole. That is how we think about a platform: separate modules you adopt one at a time, that work together as one.

Built in Europe

Archipela is built in Stockholm and runs on European infrastructure. Our ambition is to be the shared foundation that keeps European software safe, compliant and at the frontier, so the teams building on it can focus on what makes them different.
